Virtual Supplemental Course Questions:
What's the Purpose of Supplemental Courses?
Supplemental courses are designed to enhance traditional education, or - in some cases - to fill gaps that might exist in the classroom - or homeschool. Our Montessori teachers assess the level of each student enrolled in their course (remember: each session is limited to one to three students), and make a personalized learning plan for moving forward. Our current course offerings are Language Arts and Tech Discovery featuring 3D design. These courses help your child go deeper in each subject, while helping to foster a love of learning along the way.
Are the Teachers Montessori Certified?
Absolutely. MontessoriPod believes highly in the value of Montessori education. Our team believes that offering something "close" to Montessori is not sufficient. Our teachers have real-world teaching experience and are Montessori certified in order to provide the highest level of education - even in a supplemental format.
Do These Courses Replace "Traditional" School?
No. MontessoriPod's virtual supplemental courses are designed to enhance traditional (either public, private, Montessori, or homeschool) education. These courses are currently offered outside of traditional learning hours - but we are open to additional time slots if there is interest (just let us know!). They are designed to identify areas of improvement for children in grades 1-3, or, to help them go deeper in the areas they love. Our desire is to foster a sense of independence and agency, while sharpening investigative skills, and building on the basics. These courses are supplemental rather than replacements.
Are Virtual Courses a Full-Time Commitment?
They are not! Courses take place twice a week in 50-minute time slots. Each session then lasts 6 weeks (a total of 12 50-minute courses per session). Students and families can then decide whether to continue in another 6-week course or to take a break.
Traditional MontessoriPod Questions:
Where is MontessoriPod Available?
Currently, MontessoriPod is available for teachers and families located in Northern Virginia. We hope to expand in the very near future.
To Become a MontessoriPod Teacher, Do I Need to be Montessori Certified?
Yes. While our team will take care of your set-up and state paperwork, you must already hold a Montessori certification to jump in.
Can I Make a Living Doing This?
We believe education is valuable, which means that our teachers are absolutely critical: you should be paid accordingly. With our pre-set pricing structure, we are able to offer our MontessoriPod teachers a competitive living wage.
How Do I Enroll My Child in a Pod?
To enroll your child in a Montessori Pod, or to gather more information, use our "Contact Form."
How Many Children Are in Each Pod?
Each pod contains 4-10 students. If there are 8 or more children, there will be both a teacher and an assistant responsible for the class. The focus is on a high-quality, Montessori education for all.
Do I Need Enough Children for an Entire Pod? Or, Can I Just Enroll My Child?
You do not. If you DO have enough children for an entire pod, we can provide a teacher for your preferred location. If, however, you'd like to enroll a single student or a few students, they can join an existing pod.
Where are Individual Pods Located?
Currently, there are 4 pods located conveniently through Northern Virginia. Specific locations can be discussed upon enrollment.
Does School Follow a Specific Schedule?
